Job summary

A global rail services provider is seeking a field technician to operate detector cars and conduct rail inspections throughout Canada. This heavy travel position requires a valid commercial driver’s license and excellent communication skills. Candidates should have basic mechanical proficiency and must be physically capable of lifting heavy objects and performing various inspections. The role involves regular travel to customer sites for extended periods, making endurance and adaptability key attributes. Ideal applicants will have at least 2 years of driving experience and be comfortable in demanding physical environments.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have physical stamina for lifting and performing under-vehicle tasks.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for reporting safety issues.
  • Commercial driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate detector car and perform inspections and data recording.
  • Maintain and service detector vehicle and equipment.
  • Travel to various customer sites across Canada on a regular schedule.

Skills

Valid Class 5 or higher commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic mechanical proficiency
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 85 lbs
Endurance for physical tasks
Ability to travel 3–4 months
