The Role
As a Quality Process Engineer-VRT Lead, you will be a key contributor, reporting to the Quality Process Engineering Manager. You will spearhead critical assignments for your dedicated Variability Reduction Team (VRT) and collaborate with product development team members to identify and resolve emerging issues relevant to your VRT, driving enhanced quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Understand daily warranty claim reports by participating in binning meetings and lead resolutions with a cross-functional team; support and maintain warranty analytics system.
- Understand Daily End of Line (EOL) & Customer Acceptance Line (CAL) and First Time Through (FTT) inhibitors related to subsystem and drive containment and corrective action.
- Ensure quality control management updates for subsystem are maintained and adjusted as outcomes of External/Internal Indicators. Manage heat maps for the subsystem to identify critical workstations for improvement opportunities.
- Conduct control plan audits to ensure frequency and sampling achieve process capability on Key Critical Characteristics related to the subsystem.
- Own the quality and capability of the manufacturing processes within the Assembly department.
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to drive continuous improvement to manufacturing processes as per the Ford Production System (FPS).
- Lead development of interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D methodology and structured problem-solving tools.
- Play an integral role in Launch Quality Operating System initiatives and the Launch process by establishing and monitoring quality target levels at the workstation level for each build phase to validate workstation readiness.
- Conduct process audits to ensure processes adhere to Vehicle Operations guidelines and FPS standards.
- Act as team leader in resolving assembly-related concerns. Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.
- Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal ISO audits as required.
- Lead development of solutions for throughput constraints.
- Manage and direct statistical process control activities related to subsystems.
- Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristic process compatibility.
- Support efficiency planning to ensure workstations are properly set up with identified quality risks addressed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology or related discipline. (Note: Successful candidates must provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in quality or technology.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Requirements:

- Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline.

- Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
- Total Quality Management (TQM) and Kaizen Methods

- Experience using error-proofing systems
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Design of Experiments (DOE)

- Based Single Agenda for Quality (BSAQ)
- Web Based Data Management (WBDM)
- Global System for Analytics and Reporting (GSAR)
- Six Sigma Certification
