Job description
Role & Responsibilities

At Pursuit, we offer more than just a place to visit; we create opportunities for our guests to truly connect with iconic destinations. Our experiences include world‑class attractions and distinctive lodges, all designed to highlight the unique beauty of each location. Beyond that, we offer thoughtfully crafted restaurants, retail and transportation services that help our guests immerse themselves fully in the experience. What ties it all together are the friendly faces each customer meets along the way, the thoughtful amenities and the delightful details that make every visit feel personal and unforgettable.

The Retail Supervisor role operates within a high‑volume, multi‑functional environment where retail operations and attraction bookings are managed side‑by‑side each day. In addition to leading the retail floor, this position supports the daily flow of guest bookings, ticketing inquiries and coordination between retail and attractions teams—ensuring a seamless guest journey from arrival to adventure.

Supporting two core locations, and occasionally two additional nearby sites, this role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in dynamic environments, brings positive energy to their team and enjoys solving problems in real time. Success in this role comes from strong communication, curiosity and the ability to translate daily priorities into clear action plans that keep both guests and teams feeling supported.

This is a development‑focused leadership role for someone passionate about hospitality, team engagement and growing their operational skillset while making a visible impact across multiple guest touchpoints.

Your daily pursuit is to lead with energy, curiosity and care—ensuring smooth retail and booking operations while inspiring your team to deliver warm, memorable guest experiences.

This role supports both Retail and Pursuit Adventure Centre (PAC) operations, requiring an ability to balance product, bookings and people with confidence and clarity. You will work primarily between the Elk & Avenue Hotel location and the Cave & Basin Gift Shop, traveling between sites using a work vehicle and partnering closely with store leadership on daily banking and operational priorities.

Hospitality & Team Leadership
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and supportive team environment by leading with professionalism, empathy and enthusiasm.
  • Set the tone on the floor by modelling outstanding hospitality and guest‑first behaviours.
  • Coach, train and support team members to build confidence in retail, bookings and guest engagement.
  • Lead daily team huddles to communicate priorities, celebrate wins and align on the day ahead.
  • Support service recovery in the moment and elevate complex guest concerns to management when needed.
Retail & Pursuit Adventure Centre Operations
  • Support daily operations across retail sales and attraction bookings, ensuring a seamless guest experience from arrival to adventure.
  • Supervise daily workflows to ensure efficiency, accuracy and consistency across both functions.
  • Maintain high standards in merchandising, product replenishment, cleanliness and organisation.
  • Ensure booking procedures, POS accuracy and guest communications are followed consistently.
  • Act as a key communication link between frontline teams and management.
Multi‑Location Support & Operational Execution
  • Provide leadership coverage across two primary locations, with flexibility to assist nearby locations during peak periods or operational needs.
  • Travel between locations using a work vehicle.
  • Assist with banking deposits alongside store leadership.
  • Maintain organised and safe storage rooms and back‑of‑house areas.
  • Support scheduling needs by coordinating breaks and shift adjustments as required.
Cash, Inventory & Accountability
  • Oversee daily cash handling, deposits, floats and POS accuracy.
  • Communicate stock levels, operational updates and team performance regularly with management.
  • Maintain accountability to all operating, safety and hospitality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred (retail, bookings or hospitality experience an asset).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, coach and collaborate across teams.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, reliability, integrity and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with POS systems (Retail Pro) and cash handling is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an asset.
  • Secondary language skills are an asset.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (6–8 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Pursuit properties are set in iconic locations, from remote destinations to mountain peaks with breathtaking views. Applicants should be comfortable working in dynamic, high‑altitude environments and prepared for a variety of weather conditions.
  • To honour our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check.
