A local municipality in Ontario is seeking a Temporary full-time Public Works Operator. Responsibilities include maintaining roads, parks, and buildings, while assisting with public works as directed. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of equipment maintenance, a strong work ethic, and excellent organizational skills. A valid driver’s license is required, and knowledge of various maintenance trades is an asset. The role requires some overtime and quick response to callouts.
The Township of Billings is accepting applications for the Temporary full-time position of Public Works Operator.
The purpose of this position is to maintain the Township Roads, parks and buildings as directed by the Public Works Superintendent and to assist in the maintenance of Public Works and property as required by Council.
The ideal Public Works Operator will possess extensive knowledge of equipment, maintenance of roads and facilities, good organizational skills, strong work ethic and communication skills, a valid driver’s license (minimum class DZ, AZ is preferred) and the ability to operate all Township equipment. Working knowledge of carpentry, welding, metal working, plumbing, electrical, automotive maintenance and repair, small engine maintenance and repair, hydraulics, concrete, etc is considered an asset.
Salary is based on a 40 hour work week, some overtime and callouts during evening and weekend is required as part of the position. The ideal candidate must be able to attend the Municipal Garage within 30 minutes of being called in.
