THE ROLE

Supporting and working alongside the members of the Canadian Armed Forces and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country could be your path to an extremely fulfilling career.

As part of a dynamic and dedicated team, as the Physical Exercise Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with a very highly motivated and professional clientele who are eager to return to duty and improve their condition. Daily, you will lead re‑conditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members who may be affected with a medical condition and improve their functional abilities related to their physical limitations.

Being a subject matter expert in your field, you will support your local team with training and professional development. You will assist Health Promotion partners promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through initiatives such as educational programs, special events and other activities related to physical fitness.

Much like the military we so proudly support, we push the envelope of what’s possible. Working with us, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver programs and services in collaboration with a highly professional team of health services practitioners. Other stakeholders will be at your disposal to ensure a client’s successful return to duty.

Qualifications Needed
Education, Certifications and Licenses
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or in a related field
  • Current Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP_CEP), or eligibility to obtain it in accordance with CSEP prerequisites and successful completion required by end of probation; CFMWS will provide internal certification opportunity.
  • A candidate possessing an equivalent CSEP‑CEP certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) may be considered.
Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications
  • Current National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) qualification, as required, or successful completion by end of probation.

  • In communications for professional and public audiences
  • In the delivery of adult education and facilitation of workshops

As part of the selection process, candidates will undergo a physical fitness test (FORCE Evaluation) and must achieve a minimum level of Bronze.

This is an on‑site position with an assigned work location.
