Summary

The role of the Production Coordinator is to manage the repair process from start to finish. As a Production Coordinator, you will work with all departments within the collision facility to facilitate efficient repairs. Your main role is to ensure an efficient, safe, and high-quality finished product.

Primary Objectives of the Role

  1. Coordinate repairs from start to finish.
  2. Maintain a sense of urgency regarding completion targets.
  3. Adapt to moving targets and changing priorities.
  4. Keep technician staff efficient, track efficiencies, and ensure appropriate work division to maximize throughput.
  5. Ensure technicians have what they need to proceed with repairs.
  6. Plan for scheduled repairs proactively, ensuring technical staff, parts, and paint codes are prepared.
  7. Work with all departments for an efficient flow of repair.
  8. Understand performance KPIs (Touch time, Cycle Time).
  9. Focus on process improvements to eliminate bottlenecks.
  10. Conduct production or pitch meetings to set expectations, guide repair flow, and set targets.
  11. Prioritize repairs to meet shop targets.
  12. Assist with supplements according to shop policies.
  13. Research repairs against OEM procedures and provide documentation to technicians.
  14. Hold regular meetings with front-end staff to review WIP and communicate delays or progress.
  15. Engage estimators with technical staff to improve estimating skills.
  16. Monitor shop safety and ensure health and safety guidelines are followed.
  17. Maintain shop cleanliness and proper disposal of materials.
  18. Perform quality control at various stages to ensure repairs meet estimates.
  19. Assist in scheduling to ensure balanced production.
  20. Ensure vehicles are stored safely and securely.
  21. Arrange sublets for services like calibrations, tinting, PDR, wheel services, alignments, and film applications.
  22. Identify opportunities for advanced repair planning (ARP).

Job-Related Technical Knowledge

  • Utilize Mitchell Connect and Audatex software.
  • Understand the repair process flow.
  • Deep knowledge of OEM procedures.
  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Up-to-date compliance training (AODA, WHMIS, Worker Health and Safety, Workplace Violence and Harassment, PIPEDA).
  • Experience with Mitchell Connect and Audatex (additional systems can be added).
  • 2-3 years of experience in automotive or collision repair industry.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of insurance DRP practices.
  • I-CAR training (specify type if known) is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Professional appearance and positive representation of CSN.
  • Experience with advanced repair planning systems.
