Job summary

Company
Purpose

Senior Estimator – prepare and supervise capital and operating cost estimates for national and international mining projects. Full‑time position, any Worley office location across Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Worley’s cost estimating processes and procedures for all project maturity levels.
  • Provide innovative solutions to cost estimating problems and guidance following industry norms.
  • Support future benchmarking and complete estimate planning activities, establish estimating methodologies and align cost estimating principles.
  • Review design scope criteria and quantities for completeness, coordinate with the project team to ensure completeness of estimating inputs.
  • Compare and analyze scope, quantities and cost data between projects.
  • Develop escalation model where required and assist with owners cost.
  • Coordinate identification of risk areas in cost estimate compilation, evaluate appropriate contingency levels and assist with Monte Carlo type risk analysis where necessary.
  • Ensure sound quality of cost estimates adhering to Worley Cost Estimating review procedures.
  • Prepare and present cost estimating information to management and clients.
  • Supervise and assist planners in the development and integration of individual schedules.
  • Review or assist in reviewing schedule/cost engineering and material control related provisions or proposals and develop supporting data for contract negotiations.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training, mentorship to subordinates and graduates.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent qualification/experience, ideally in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a similar role within a multi‑discipline engineering environment.
  • Strong technical and practical estimating skills with a proven track record of delivering quality, accurate and timely work.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interface professionally with client stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local, international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Highly competent in MS Office® and discipline‐specific software and tools; Cleopatra and Aspen experience is an asset.
  • Thorough technical, practical and leadership experience in project engineering and specialized estimating expertise with project planning and scheduling experience and demonstrable leadership managing a team across large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary projects.
