A government agency in Whitehorse is seeking a full-time Paramedic to provide emergency and non-emergency medical treatment throughout Yukon communities. The role requires completion of a recognized paramedical program, a valid PCP license, and recent experience in medical treatment. Ideal candidates have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and are prepared for up to 70% travel to various communities. This posting is to fill a full‑time term position working 75 hours biweekly. It will also be used to fill auxiliary on‑call positions.
It will establish a 12‑month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.
This position will be based in Whitehorse but will be required to provide coverage for shortages in communities as needed, traveling to communities (up to 70% travel).

The Yukon’s Emergency Medical Services (YEMS) team delivers a wide scope of pre‑hospital care. We provide medical interventions, treatments, and quality care in every corner of the Yukon. Leadership, dedication, and partnership guide our work.
The incumbent will employ professional Primary Care Life Support skills to provide pre‑hospital emergency and non‑emergency medical treatment to the Yukon population. The PCP assesses patient conditions to formulate a treatment plan and to initiate emergency interventions and non‑emergency care to provide optimal patient wellbeing. This work is carried out in environments where medical support is limited.

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
Valid PCP licence from a paramedic governing body in Canada without conditions or restrictions (COPR certificate will be considered as equivalent at time of hire, but will have one year to obtain a license in a southern jurisdiction), TB screening; RCMP check with vulnerable sector check; and class 4 Yukon driver’s license (or equivalent). CPR‑HCP, current valid certification.
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Shift work, including weekends and standby; travel to communities (up to 70% travel); wearing a uniform; physical effort, hazards, and discomfort as specified within the Job Description including exposure to high stress, sensitive situations, verbally and physically aggressive behaviour; working in awkward positions indoors and outdoors in all weather; lifting and transferring patients with assistance; ability to lift to 50 lbs.; maintaining all conditions of employment.
