Job Summary

The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is seeking a Physician Assistant who, under the direction and supervision of a physician, will work as a member of the clinical team to provide care to patients and their families with a responsible and professional approach.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Physician Assistant program.
  • Certified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Active membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement and willingness to actively participate in continuous quality improvement activities/initiatives.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritize, organize and work independently as well as a team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
Job Duties
  • Collaborate with all physicians, nurses, professional staff, etc., to ensure quality in patient care.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental assessments of patients and interpret findings. This includes assessment of vital signs and examination of all major body systems (i.e.: psychosis, intoxication, overdose etc.)
  • Request and interpret diagnostic tests (i.e.: laboratory, X-ray, ultrasounds, etc.) and communicate results thoroughly to patients.
  • Acquire health history as appropriate, including patient demographics, history of an illness or injury, past medical, surgical, family and psychosocial history, medications, allergies and systems review.
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans while monitoring patients’ progress and response to treatment.
  • Develop ethical, professional and trustworthy relationships with patients, families and the health care team.
  • Collect blood samples, body secretions and body fluids.
  • Participate in research and academic initiatives.
  • Provide patient care in a manner that is consistent with SLMHC mission and reflects core values.
Salary

$51.62 – $60.73 (Salary and Benefits in accordance with qualifications and experience)
