6-month Performance Engineer contact role working on a high-profile program with a local enterprise organization

  • 6-month Frontend Performance Engineer contract role.
  • Great team environment.
  • Enterprise organization with a global footprint with an on site work environment, 4 days a week in office.
What & Why:

In this role you'll define performance standards and monitor real-time data across mainly web and on occasion mobile platforms to identify optimization opportunities. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot slowdowns, improve load times, and enhance user experience through better caching, asset delivery, and testing with industry-standard tools. The role requires 7+ years of experience with performance engineering, proficiency in tools like Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, and Xcode Instruments, plus knowledge of CDNs, cloud platforms, and CI/CD processes ideally in high-traffic ecommerce environments. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a remote work arrangement, 4 days on site.

You:

You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

  • 7+ years of engineering experience focused on web, mobile, or platform performance.
  • Strong understanding ofessential performance metrics (page load, responsiveness, app startup time, frame rate, stability).
  • Experience using performance profiling and debugging tools for:
  • Web: Chrome DevTools,Lighthouse, WebPageTest.
  • iOS: Xcode Instruments.
  • Android: Android Studio Profilers – would be a nice to have.
  • Working knowledge of modern web technologies. Native mobile app architectures would be a nice to have.
  • Experience with CDNs, caching strategies, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Comfortable working with logs, monitoring tools, and observability platforms.
  • Experience supporting high-traffic ecommerce or similarly large customer-facing systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and performance automation.
Compensation:

This role pays between $80-95 per hour.
