Job description
Overview

Northern Health is seeking Pediatrician Locum Physicians to work in Fort St. John Hospital, Fort St. John, British Columbia. Dates are flexible to suit your availability with a minimum of two days required. Locums will be expected to be on call for pediatrics for the Fort St. John Hospital, attending newborn deliveries and seeing urgent pediatric consultations in the Emergency Room.

Responsibilities
  • Be on call for pediatrics during assigned Fort St. John Hospital shifts, attend newborn deliveries, and respond to urgent pediatric consultations in the Emergency Department.
  • Provide pediatric clinical coverage consistent with the needs of the hospital and patient population.
Facilities and Support
  • Fort St John Hospital is a state-of-the-art 55-bed facility with a 123-bed residential care facility serving a population of ~23,000 and a catchment area of ~70,000.
  • 24/7 X-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MRI services; full-time physician support includes GP Anesthesia, General Surgery, Psychiatry and Orthopedic Surgery; intermittent Ob/Gyn coverage.
  • ICU nursing and respiratory therapy support for higher-level care when needed.
  • Strong local Child Development Centre and access to child and youth mental health counselling options.
Clinic Opportunities
  • Locum pediatricians may offer consulting services in the Fort St. John Pediatric Clinic (not required). The clinic is open 5 days per week and uses a shared EMR with regular visiting clinics and locum coverage. The clinic is off-site from the Fort St. John Hospital.
  • The clinic is located at 10011 96 Street and has 3 fully equipped examination rooms and one shared office/workspace. Administrative staff assist locum physicians with resource access and referral forms (e.g., Fort St. John Child Development Centre).
Remuneration and Logistics
  • Remuneration is through the Rural Specialist Locum Program (RSLP).
  • Daily rate: $2,960/24 hours, inclusive of RRP and MOCAP.
  • Travel and accommodation costs are covered; travel stipend up to $1,500 per round trip depending on time.
