Job description
Overview

Shared Health at 1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9, and The University of Manitoba, Department of Pediatrics & Child Health, are inviting applications for a Pediatric Neurologist / Epileptologist to commence on January 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and other diagnostic procedures, and consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 70% of the position.

The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 30% of the position. Job duties are required in English.

The Section of Pediatric Neurology evaluates children with a wide variety of neurological abnormalities including seizure disorders (epilepsies), strokes, tumors, ataxia, headaches, neuromuscular disorders, metabolic and degenerative diseases, infectious diseases, developmental malformations and developmental delay. Opportunities for research exist and clinicians with commitment and interest in collaborative and independent research are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicants will join a Section of six full-time academic pediatric neurologists and one community pediatric neurologist that work closely with Pediatric Neurosurgery. The Section of Neurology also includes three pediatric neurology nurse clinicians and five EEG technologists. The EEG Laboratory provides routine EEGs, ambulatory EEGs and Video EEG Monitoring on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Children’s Hospital at Health Sciences Centre provides a 2-bed pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Pediatrics, and completion of a neonatal neurology fellowship and Canadian pediatric epilepsy fellowship. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Experience is preferred.

Compensation

Compensation is a mixed model, primarily derived from Fee-For-Service income, which is approximately $340,000. Specialty Physicians may be eligible for a recruitment incentive. Please contact physicianrecruitment@sharedhealthmb.ca for further information.
