Job summary

A regional healthcare provider seeks a Cardiologist to examine, diagnose, and treat patients with cardiovascular disorders across various clinics. The successful candidate will perform non-invasive procedures, consult with patients, and maintain hospital privileges. This position requires a licensed MD/DO, certification in Cardiovascular Disease, and fluency in English; speaking Chinese is preferred. Responsibilities

  • Perform non-invasive procedures such as echocardiogram and stress tests.
  • Maintain hospital privileges and participate in quality assurance programs.

Job description

The Cardiologist will examine, diagnose and treat or recommend courses of treatment or therapy for NEMS patients at various NEMS clinics, with particular emphasis on disorders of the cardiovascular system.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Examines and treats disorders and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
  • Diagnoses patients with the aid of diagnostic images and electrocardiograph recordings. Diagnoses and recommends treatment options to patients.
  • Complete a thorough physical examination and medical history of the patient
  • Provide preventative services, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of abnormalities of the cardiac system, such as murmurs and abnormal heart rhythms
  • Apply knowledge of both normal and abnormal conditions related to the cardiac system, including the heart vessels, and cardiac medications and electrical therapies
  • Will perform non-invasive procedures such as echocardiogram, Holter or stress tests to help with diagnosis and treatment at outside facilities or at NEMS.
  • Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
  • Stresses the importance of preventative health care measures.
  • Uses all available resources in diagnosis and treatment, such as laboratory and radiological testing, in an appropriate and cost efficient manner.
  • Confers with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patients’ families concerning treatment and care of patients.
  • Will see patients via telemedicine or virtually as needed.
  • Works Saturday clinic on a rotation basis if needed.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a regularly updated performance improvement plan for NEMS.
  • Adheres to ethical, professional and legal requirements as mandated by federal, state, and local funding agencies.
  • Documents electronically with NEMS EMR system.
  • Attends medical staff meetings and participates in the community health center’s Quality Assurance program if possible
  • Provides training or teaching, when appropriate, to medical students, medical residents, nursing students, and other students who come to NEMS for training.
  • Maintains hospital privileges.
  • Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be board eligible or certified in Cardiovascular Disease
  • Licensed MD/DO required.
  • Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required.
LANGUAGE
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • The ability to speak Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) preferred.

This is an FLSA exempt position.
This is an OSHA high-risk position.
