Summary

This role requires an APEGA-registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with deep technical expertise, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and the ability to balance hands‑on engineering with team development and process discipline. The Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for all engineering activities within our Global Heat Transfer (GHT) product line. Key responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, driving innovation, and supporting both production engineering and new product development (NPD). The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of pressure vessel codes, specifically CSA B51, and ASME Section VIII for Category H Pressure Fittings and ABSA/CRN/ASME design submissions and management. You will foster employee growth through goal setting, mentorship, and performance development. This position also involves cross‑functional support for manufacturing, sales, and customer service, addressing technical issues as needed. Additionally, you will prepare and present plans and project status updates to management. Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety, and Environment program, along with adherence to all company policies and procedures, is mandatory. Occasional international travel may be required.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct, and train the engineering team; coordinate departmental activities, design processes, and project schedules.
  • Apply technical expertise to understand products, champion innovation, and drive growth in product offerings.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for accuracy, on‑time delivery, and quality; adjust processes as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with zero non‑conformances; manage design submissions and approvals.
  • Integrate risk management practices (FMEA, HAZOP) into design processes; maintain quality.
  • Ensure adherence to CSA B51, ASME Section VIII, and ABSA CRN requirements for Category H pressure vessels.
  • Compile design data, maintain schedules, and prepare status reports.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and regulatory agencies to clarify design deliverables.
  • Validate design deliverables for compliance and quality.
  • Develop, improve, and test components, products, and systems.
  • Lead and review structural and mechanical designs, calculations, and analyses.
  • Oversee thermal transfer design considerations; optimize performance using advanced engineering principles.
  • Manage projects from concept to delivery; apply stage‑gate principles for NPD.
  • Balance resources between production support and NPD; prevent bottlenecks and ensure timely delivery.
  • Drive innovation and proactively resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD Inventor and related design workflows; ensure proper CAD/PDM utilization.
  • Apply risk management practices (FMEA, HAZOP) within design processes; maintain ISO 9001 compliance.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer designation and registered with APEGA.
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience with pressure vessels.
  • Minimum of +5 years of managerial experience.
