Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IBM MQ experience, deep expertise in administration and configuration.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python), MQ security (SSL/TLS).
  • Ability to design messaging solutions for scalability.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex issues.
  • Proven ability to support high-availability systems.

What is the Opportunity?

Join our team as a Messaging Technologies Infrastructure Specialist and play a pivotal role in maintaining and evolving our mission‑critical messaging infrastructure at RBC. This position offers a unique chance to shape the future of our messaging infrastructure while ensuring compliance, scalability, and high availability. You’ll tackle complex technical challenges, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business‑critical systems. This role blends hands‑on technical expertise with forward‑looking architectural planning, making it ideal for someone passionate about both problem‑solving and innovation in enterprise messaging.

What will you do?
  • Support & Troubleshoot: Act as a technical escalation point for the Messaging Technologies teams, help resolve issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Installation & Configuration: Deploy and configure messaging infrastructure technologies (such as IBM MQ and IBM App Connect Enterprise) across various platforms.
  • Architecture & Optimization: Design and implement scalable messaging solutions, optimize performance, and plan for future growth.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and implement security measures (encryption, access controls, etc).
  • Automation: Develop scripts/tools to automate tasks and monitoring.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior team members and share expertise in best practices.
  • Disaster Recovery: Maintain and test backup/recovery strategies for high availability.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Engage with IBM and other vendors to resolve issues and evaluate new technologies.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
  • 5+ years of IBM MQ experience: Deep expertise in administration, troubleshooting, and configuration (v9.x).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting (Bash/Python), MQ security (SSL/TLS), and integration with middleware (e.g., App Connect).
  • Architectural Mindset: Ability to design and evolve messaging solutions for scalability and compliance.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex issues in high‑pressure environments.
  • Complex System Expertise: Proven ability to support mission‑critical, high‑availability systems in large‑scale enterprise environments.
Nice‑to‑have
  • Experience with other messaging platforms (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka).
  • IBM MQ certification or training in IBM App Connect Enterprise.
  • Knowledge of mainframe MQ (z/OS) or containerized MQ deployments.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for messaging systems.
