What you will do

The Materials Manager is a hands‑on leader responsible for the direct management and handling of all raw and finished goods inventory and some warehousing functions across multiple manufacturing plants. This tactical role requires expert knowledge of core inventory processes and active involvement on the warehouse floor to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The Materials Manager ensures accountability of all physical materials and adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures, while driving operational excellence through strong leadership and decision‑making skills. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

How you will do it
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and implementing practical solutions.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor to monitor operations and support team members.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on inventory control processes, providing guidance and troubleshooting issues in real time.
  • Actively participate in daily inventory and warehouse activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage and oversee the handling of all raw and WIP inventory across multiple manufacturing plants.
  • Supervise warehousing functions, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Ensure accountability for all physical materials within the organization.
  • Enforce adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop the materials management team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise the team including; hiring decisions, delegation, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accurate records and efficient operations.
  • Effectively lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts along with reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless material flow and support production schedules.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and present reports on inventory status, discrepancies, and other relevant metrics to senior management.
What we look for
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in materials management, inventory control, or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of legislative and safety regulations related to warehousing and materials handling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or Inventory Control (e.g., APICS, CPIM).
  • Experience with SAP.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,000-133,000 CAD (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
