An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Mang-Otawin Facilitator to support culturally responsive mediation and healing initiatives. Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation is presently recruiting for a

(External Posting, Term Contract – End March 31, 2027)

Location: Thunder Bay, ON

Mang-Otawin (Where the Loon Lives) is funded by the Department of Justice Canada (Indigenous Justice Program). The purpose of the project is to support community-determined, culturally responsive mediation/dispute resolution, healing and intervention for youth, families, intimate partners and/or community members.

Qualifications:

  1. This position requires at a minimum a secondary school diploma with related work experience.
  2. It is preferred that the Mang-Otawin Facilitator holds a post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, child and family worker program, mental health, ADR/mediation experience or related fields.
  3. Minimal travel may be required.
  4. Sensitivity, awareness, and implementation of traditional/cultural teachings.
  5. Understands intersectional approach to gender, race and discrimination and intergenerational effects of youth and families.
  6. Excellent case and file management skills, administrative and coordination skills, stress management and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
  8. Ability to speak the language and knowledge of culture is an asset.
  9. Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills specifically in conflict resolution and nonviolent crisis intervention; excellent interviewing and counselling skills.
  10. Experience and knowledge of the legal system is an asset.

Hours: Full Time – Contract (35 Hours Per Week)

Starting Salary: $54,113 Annually
