A leading staffing agency is looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join a stable manufacturing environment in Newmarket, Ontario. In this role, you will work during straight day shifts and enjoy an excellent compensation package including $35-40/hr pay and comprehensive benefits. As a key member of the maintenance and automation team, you’ll play a critical role in keeping advanced manufacturing systems running at peak performance.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC-controlled systems, vision inspection equipment, barcoding systems, CNC machining centers, and electromechanical presses
Perform root cause analysis on electrical, mechanical, and automation issues and implement permanent corrective actions
Maintain and update PLC programs, HMI interfaces, and vision system configurations, including backups and documentation
Execute preventative and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency
Support the implementation, integration, and commissioning of new automation technologies
Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and apprentices
Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives focused on downtime reduction
Post-secondary education in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field
Certificate of Qualification in a recognized trade (Industrial Electrician, Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, Automation or Controls Technician)
5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment
Strong experience with:
PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, or similar)
Barcoding systems integration
Electromechanical presses and automation cells
Solid mechanical aptitude with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Clear verbal and written communication skills
