Facilities Management Program Planner

This position works in the Facilities organizational unit. It is administrative and technical work related to the development, maintenance and implementation of the City’s facilities maintenance program. The incumbent develops preventive maintenance and repair programs; prepares facility condition assessments for City buildings and ancillary equipment; assists in capital budget planning estimates; schedules and coordinates minor capital renovation and component replacement projects; conducts research, analyzes and compiles data to prepare recommendations for the facilities preventive maintenance program; and tracks progress of projects carried out by other staff.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance and repair programs for all City buildings and equipment.
  • Prepare facility condition assessments and recommend priorities for maintenance or upgrades.
  • Assist in capital budget planning and estimate preparation for maintenance projects.
  • Schedule and coordinate minor capital renovation and component replacement projects.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare recommendations for the preventive maintenance program.
  • Track progress of maintenance projects performed by other departments and agencies.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in building or architectural technology or related courses, plus relevant experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, methods, materials, and equipment related to building structures, fixtures, and ancillary equipment.
  • Knowledge of bylaws, codes, regulations, departmental policies, and procedures applicable to facilities maintenance.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, costing procedures, and facility condition assessment guidelines.
  • Experience with Asset Management Software (VFA) and SAP considered an asset.
  • Ability to inspect all City buildings and equipment for signs of deterioration and develop costed preventive maintenance plans.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and records.
  • Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
Employment Information
  • Location: Burnaby, BC (On site)
  • Salary: $7,383 – $8,719 per month (2024 rates)
  • Term of Employment: Permanent, Full-time (40 hours/week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Salary Schedule: 40 hours weekly
