Job description
LTO EA Level D – Extended Day After School – 10 hrs/wk Floradale

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply to this posting if it will conflict with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2‑weeks notice. Qualifications and Requirements
  • Certified Teachers Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma from an accredited post‑secondary institution
  • Developmental Service Worker (DSW) from an accredited post‑secondary institution
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited post‑secondary institution
  • Social Services Diploma (SSW) from an accredited post‑secondary institution
  • Post‑secondary degree in Sociology from an accredited post‑secondary institution AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children. In lieu of relevant related work experience, the Board may consider significant relevant volunteer experience
  • Minimum six month diploma from an accredited post‑secondary institution in a child‑related discipline AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children. In lieu of relevant related work experience, the Board may consider significant relevant volunteer experience
  • Minimum six month certificate from an accredited educational institution in a child‑related discipline AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children. This could include but is not limited to programs such as the St. Louis Adult Learning certificate program. In lieu of relevant related work experience, the Board may consider significant relevant volunteer experience
  • Post‑secondary degree/diploma from an accredited post‑secondary institution that is complementary to supporting special needs children as solely determined by the Board AND a MINIMUM of one (1) year (1,224) hours of related work experience preferably directly supporting special needs children. In lieu of relevant related work experience, the Board may consider significant relevant volunteer experience

  • A valid Behaviour Management Systems certification
  • Proven ability and recent experience in working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities is strongly preferred and school‑based experience

Interview Process

Interview will be conducted via Interviewstream. This is a one‑way video interview platform where your responses to interview questions are recorded in a time and space that is convenient for you (within a set window of time). You will receive an invitation from the Waterloo Region District School Board (noreply@rivs.com). If invited for an interview and this is your first time taking a video interview, you should click on the "What Can I Expect" button in the email to access interview best practices, Candidate Experience Guide, or take a practice interview. A link to complete the interview will expire at a set date and time; failure to complete by the expiry date will mean you will decline the opportunity. You may complete your interview on a PC, Mac, or the mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. Video recordings will begin automatically after the preparation window or you can choose to begin sooner. Responses can be up to five minutes in length for each question.

Employment Verification and Safety

All employees working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent check and to complete an annual offence declaration through the WRDSB staff portal. Additionally, employees working in before and after school programs must obtain a VSC, submit original electronic copy for review, and maintain a valid first aid and CPR certificate or update training annually.
