About Our Client

With decades of experience serving clients across Ontario, the firm is well-established and trusted in the legal industry. It supports a wide variety of clients, from entrepreneurs and corporations to institutions, and is deeply embedded in Toronto’s legal and business communities. Located in the city’s financial core, the firm maintains a hybrid work model, excellent benefits, and a culture that encourages professional growth and healthy work-life balance. The litigation team is known for its cohesion, independence, and mutual support.

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a Litigation Legal Assistant to support two highly regarded lawyers in the firm’s Commercial and Civil Litigation group. You will be joining a team that values reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of large litigation files with minimal supervision.

This is a hands-on role, suited for someone who enjoys working independently while still being part of a collaborative and professional team. You’ll be a key player supporting high-quality files for sophisticated clients. The position is ideal for someone coming from a mid-sized firm or litigation boutique, where they were exposed to more complex litigation processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and organizing legal documents, including pleadings, motion records, and trial books
  • Managing lawyers’ calendars, court deadlines, meetings, and schedules
  • Handling court filings, coordinating service, and managing document flow
  • Maintaining electronic and physical client files in an organized, efficient manner
  • Preparing and bookmarking legal documents using Kofax or Adobe PDF tools
Qualifications
  • Legal Assistant Certificate or Paralegal Diploma from a recognized Canadian institution (required)
  • 3–5 years of experience in Ontario civil and commercial litigation
  • Knowledge of Ontario court rules and procedures, including timelines and filing protocols
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and experience with Adobe/Kofax PDF software
  • Proficient in legal technology such as DocuSign, CaseLines, and TerraView
  • Familiarity with docketing and billing software (e.g., Carpe Diem, BQ)
  • Must have supported complex files in a mid-sized firm or litigation boutique (not suitable for large firm or solo practice backgrounds)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
  • Vacation: 3 weeks vacation + 10 personal days annually
  • Benefits: 100% employer-paid medical and dental, Life insurance and AD&D coverage, $600 healthcare spending account, Transit subsidy available
