Job description
Overview

Are you a talented, creative and results-driven professional who thrives on delivering high-performing applications? Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT collaborates with partners across the company to deliver innovative IT solutions for Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration. The FIAT Portfolio Management team is responsible for a wide range of projects impacting Finance and Audit that span multiple systems within the Finance/Audit domain. Projects may be internally driven due to upstream changes or new business; externally driven due to accounting-, regulatory-, market-changes; or mergers and acquisitions.

As an end-to-end Business System Analyst, you will understand project objectives, collaborate across IT teams, and lead the coordination of BA specialists and subject matter experts to collate system requirements from Finance users and ensure they are tested and delivered by project end.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Finance representatives and other project stakeholders to ensure the scope and project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
  • Collaborate with IT architects to understand data flows and system responsibilities in the Finance architecture and define the high-level scope of changes across component systems.
  • Coordinate with each Finance component’s system analysts and subject matter experts to plan, document, and validate requirements so inbound/outbound data elements, assumptions, system responsibilities, business rules, and non-functional requirements are cohesive and complete for the Finance solution.
  • Partner with end-to-end project managers to scope, estimate, plan, capture assumptions, identify interdependencies, and manage risks to delivery.
  • Coordinate with QA managers and data providers to clarify test objectives, plan test cycles, address interdependencies, and prioritize bug fixes discovered during testing.
  • Work with data providers and Finance QA specialists to ensure critical data elements and non-functional requirements are delivered as expected.
  • Analyze and interrogate data sources to assess completeness and quality against Finance requirements; chase data issues to sources to establish root causes and corrective actions or workarounds.
  • Understand financial products and related processes so idiosyncrasies are not mishandled or misclassified by Finance systems.
What you need to succeed

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree with change management experience in complex programs or a technical IT/software engineering background.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail to represent stakeholder and project requirements.
  • Ability to quickly understand and articulate financial products (e.g., loans/deposits, securities, derivatives) or other complex concepts; experience in financial services.
  • Data manipulation skills (SQL/Python/Excel) with understanding of databases/data models, data flows, and interfaces.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management capabilities.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience coordinating across multiple systems on projects.
  • Familiarity with the Finance domain in a bank.
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet high-quality standards across tasks and deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
