About the Role

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll help own the systems that power our core product. You’ll design and build scalable services, shape backend architecture, and help the team ship reliable, high‑performance software. This is a hands‑on role with real technical leadership — writing code, making key decisions, and raising the bar across the engineering org.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs that support mission‑critical product features
• Own architecture decisions around scalability, reliability, and performance
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and platform teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
• Build and maintain distributed systems, databases, and internal tooling
• Establish strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability, and deployment
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance and review
• Drive improvements in system performance, security, and infrastructure efficiency
• Help define backend technical strategy as the company scales

• 5+ years of experience with high‑scale SaaS platforms, developer tools, and/or AI‑driven products
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, Nodejs, and operating backend systems in production
• You’ve led technical projects end‑to‑end and enjoy taking ownership
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Comfortable balancing speed and quality in a fast‑moving environment
• You write clean, maintainable code and care about long‑term system health
• You enjoy mentoring teammates and setting a high engineering bar
• You thrive in collaborative teams where engineering and product work closely together
