Job Description

Position Purpose Summary
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century‑old tradition to contribute toward building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to others. The Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract role. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area, including shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Responsibilities
  • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset.
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator.
  • Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
  • Supervise, support and assign Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign.
  • Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers.
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
  • Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly).
  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations.
  • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Critical Relationship Management

Governance Boards and Councils: n/a
Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team
External: Community members

Managerial/Technical Responsibilities

Reports directly to the CMO and CO. Direct reports: none. Workflow coordinator.

Financial and Material Management
  • Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are kept secure.

Working Conditions
  • Work environment is typically in malls/stores.
  • Standing for long periods and exposure to cold weather may be required.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications
  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset.
  • One year of related experience or experience in customer service.
  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Related experience is an asset.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs).
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in handling donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
Compensation and Availability

This is a fixed-term position for the Christmas season. Shifts vary and will be 35 hours per week. Target pay range is $17.33 to $21.66 per hour.

Compensation: The target hiring range is $17.33 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99. Placement in the salary range will be based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
