Q4A is a full-service architectural practice located in Toronto, Calgary, and Ottawa with work primarily in the residential and institutional sectors. We are seeking an ambitious, passionate, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Designer to join our team in Calgary. Q4A offers outstanding benefits and provides an engaging work environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for residential architecture and wood frame construction and will assist our Project Architects and Job Captains with the creative development of a variety of projects. This role will focus on the design and development of residential wood-frame construction using both AutoCAD and Revit. There is great opportunity for a Junior Designer to learn and quickly develop an understanding of wood-frame construction and the preparation of Construction Drawings.

Qualifications include:
  • Strong knowledge and fluency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Ability to work independently, developing and coordinating drawings
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up, Lumion; considered an asset
  • Excellent 3D Modelling and rendering skills; considered an asset
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a minimum 2-year Architectural technology diploma
Responsibilities:
  • Development of 2D and 3D presentation drawings and coloured renderings;
  • Assist with Design and space planning at the schematic and design development phases;
  • Produce conceptual building elevations, floor plans, and site plans including renderings for proposals and marketing;
  • Execute drawings, construction documents, technical documents, details, sketches, etc.;
  • Collaborate in the production of conceptual drawings, technical drawings, and in solving technical problems;
  • Contribute to the overall success of the projects by committing to utilizing standards and best practices;
  • Assist with preparation of material samples, specification drawings and presentation boards; and,
  • Assist in establishing office drawings standards and file/library management practices.
