Position Description

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Development, the Associate will play a key role in supporting the corporate development team in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic initiatives that align with the company’s overall objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive business development efforts, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Senior Associates and the Manager, Corporate Development in in-depth market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Analyse industry landscapes and competitor profiles to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in the development of financial models to evaluate the financial feasibility and potential returns of strategic initiatives.
  • Analyse and interpret financial statements to assess the financial health of target companies.
  • Support due diligence efforts for potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess legal, financial, and operational aspects of potential transactions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of corporate development activities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure alignment on strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and negotiations as required.
  • Assist in project management activities related to corporate development initiatives.
  • Coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables with various teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in financial modelling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions processes is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Report writing and presentation skills.
Salary & Benefits
  • The base salary for this position is $65,000 – $75,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
  • Incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.

  • RRSP – We provide a competitive RRSP contribution plan, with base contributions made by Mercer which can be supplemented with personal contributions matched by the company up to a certain %.
