The IT Service Administrator’s role is to administer the day‑to‑day operations of the Access Control services for the company. This person enforces strict access controls, policies, and procedures that enforce segregation of duties, the use of unique user IDs and passwords, roles‑based access, and the least privilege principle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing the day‑to‑day administration of security access requests.
  • Monitoring security requests, approvals, and granting activities to ensure procedures are consistently followed.
  • Managing the accurate and timely onboarding of new employees, students, and contractors.
  • Managing the access controls and access changes related to employee, student, and contractor transfers and changes in roles and responsibilities.
  • Managing the access controls related to the suspension, leave of absence, and termination of employees, students, and contractors.
  • Administering the operations of role‑based access control systems.
  • Managing Service Desk Incident tickets and escalations pertaining to access issues.
  • Managing day‑to‑day requests for password resets.
  • Providing support for ongoing system and access control audits.
  • Provide reporting and statistics as required by management.
Required Qualifications
  • A solid understanding of how system access works and how to provision system access while respecting the least privilege principle.
  • A working knowledge of how to provision user access to networks, applications, file shares, and/or databases.
  • A working knowledge of Medavie Blue Cross legacy systems.
  • A working knowledge of roles‑based access controls (RBAC).
  • Strong customer service experience and the ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional even while under pressure and tight time constraints.
  • A strong commitment to the enforcement of established rules, controls, and policies.

Education: Relevant University degree or College diploma

WorkExperience: 3+ years of experience in the IT industry

Language Skills: English, written and spoken. French would be considered an asset.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

Other Qualifications
  • Fundamental knowledge of security related to information systems such as telecommunication circuits, network devices, server devices, firewalls, and/or applications.
  • Experience in securing file shares and/or databases.
  • Experience in administering or implementing access controls to secured systems.
Skills
  • Ability to administer user access rights and privileges.
  • Ability to perform quality control checks upon the user access rights administration process and provide guidance to the security administrators.
  • Ability to generate security metrics and reports with accuracy.
  • Ability and desire to think creatively and to seek out ways of improving current processes and finding new and innovative efficiencies.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with people from across the entire organization.
