Overview

AtkinsRéalis Ports & Marine team in Canada is looking for an Intermediate Marine Structural Engineer to join their growing team. This position reports to the Ports & Marine Team Lead - Western Canada. You'll gain expertise in all aspects of this sector, from waterfront development to foreshore rehabilitation, terminals and facilities to asset management and assessments.

Your role
  • Building relationships with clients on existing projects and seeking new project opportunities;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers and/or technicians;
  • Analyzing, designing, and evaluating maritime structures, including existing structures and assessing their load‑bearing capacity;
  • Preparing and managing project scopes, schedules, and finances, as well as delivering written deliverables such as reports, technical notes and specifications, and tender documents for marine works, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project documentation;
  • Developing conceptual options, preliminary designs, and engineering sketches to support feasibility studies;
  • Analyzing, designing, and evaluating maritime structures, including existing structures and assessing their load‑bearing capacity;
  • Coordinating drawing development with other technical staff and conducting drawing reviews;
  • Conducting on‑site inspections for existing structures and ongoing construction projects.
About you
  • Holds a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of maritime infrastructure;
  • Is registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC;
  • Is proficient in structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or similar;
  • Project management skills and experience in successfully delivering marine infrastructure projects are considered an asset;
  • Speaks fluent English with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $74,100 – $101,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
