UniFirst Canada seeks a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems and components, indoors and outdoors. The role includes on‑the‑job training and a standard Monday–Friday work week.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 5th Class Power Engineer certification.
• Must pass UniFirst maintenance knowledge assessment.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Experience repairing industrial processing equipment in production.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read maintenance literature in English.
• Basic computer and MS Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Welding experience (MIG/TIG/ARC) preferred.
• CMMS experience preferred.
• HVAC and boiler knowledge preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools including hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using measuring instruments.
• Test boiler chemicals and wastewater pre-treatment; log results and adjust as needed.
• Perform daily/weekly boiler safety checks and repairs.
• Perform Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space procedures where needed.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings; take corrective actions.
• Conduct daily/weekly location and system safety checks.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters, maintain parts.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears as per procedures.
• Use CMMS for all repair and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Respond to emergency alarms and assist team with repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by location management.
