Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Hybrid (Calgary Residence Ideal)

Flash Forest is a reforestation company that uses drone technology, automation, ecological science, and a lot of passion to reforest post‑wildfire areas at a rapid pace. Instead of humans on the ground, we transfer the hard labour of planting trees to drones, making it a truly scalable climate solution. We harness innovation to restore entire ecosystems while building scalable, data‑driven forestry solutions. In addition to automating reforestation, we are constantly developing new technology using Machine Learning models to optimize our forestry intelligence service offering.

With our primary location in Toronto this is an exciting time to join the business and we look forward to welcoming you to our ambitious and growing team as we expand across Canada and the United States. This role is hybrid, with quarterly travel required to the Toronto HQ as well as domestic/US travel for client meetings, site visits, and government or partner engagements as needed. Preference will be given to candidates in Alberta, especially in Calgary, near our Alberta office.

Your Contribution

You are a driven, execution‑focused business development professional with experience managing complex sales cycles, government or institutional procurement and client relationships. You thrive in fast‑paced, evolving environments. You are self‑motivated and take ownership over revenue targets from initial outreach through to contract close (including ongoing account management).

You are an excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt quickly as priorities shift. You are equally comfortable picking up the phone as you are responding to a Request For Proposals, managing CRM systems, and representing the company professionally with senior stakeholders (up to C‑suite). You are resourceful and thrive problem‑solving with a limited budget.

You are a highly collaborative team player. You enjoy working with technical employees (engineers, data scientists, foresters, plant scientists) to understand our tech advancements and be able to translate the knowledge onto client calls.

As Head of Sales, you will work closely with the leadership and operations team to convert opportunities into signed contracts and ensure client satisfaction. You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and act as the primary commercial Head of Sales during a maternity leave coverage period. Flash Forest is a growing and dynamic company. As such, you will be expected to complete other duties as assigned and remain flexible in the scope of work undertaken. This role assumes a high degree of adaptability, resourcefulness and ownership.

Role & Responsibility
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract execution
  • Lead cold and warm outreach for automated tree planting services and Forest Intelligence Services
  • Identify, track, and respond to RFPs and procurement opportunities across Canada and United States federal and state portals
  • Shadow senior leadership on complex Canadian and US deals and progressively take ownership of opportunities
  • Manage active client accounts, including monthly client reporting, annual reports and renewals, and relationship management and upsell opportunities
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline forecasting
  • Execute within established sales operations, templates, and systems
  • Coordinate internally to ensure smooth handoff from sales to product delivery
  • Support government‑related business development and contract execution where required
  • Travel quarterly to HQ in Toronto and other domestic or international travel required to meet clients
Competencies & Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in business development / sales, demonstrated experience selling into government, institutional, or regulated markets
  • Strong outbound sales capability (cold calling, email outreach, RFQs)
  • Background in forestry is an asset
  • Background in government relations is an asset
  • Experience managing RFPs, proposals, and procurement submissions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Comfortable working remotely across time zones
  • Experience using CRM systems such as HubSpot
  • Experience in a startup or high‑growth environment is essential
Compensation
  • This role will provide a mix of fixed and variable compensation, with base compensation in the range of $120,000 to $140,000 CAD
  • Stock options will also be provided for this role
