Purpose of Role: The Head of Commercial Finance / FP&A will act as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director of Canadian operations. This role provides high-impact financial leadership and guidance to drive business performance, operational alignment, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shaping and executing financial strategy to support business growth, profitability, and long-term value creation.
  • Collaborating closely with the Managing Director to provide actionable insights, evaluate performance, and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Championing financial discipline and operational alignment across functions to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Driving proactive financial planning and analysis, enabling agility and responsiveness in a dynamic market.
  • Upholding governance and risk management standards, while fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Lead complex and non-routine accounting activities, applying advanced knowledge of IFRS and leveraging strong analytical and business acumen to support strategic decision-making.
  • Own the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, delivering insightful analyses and comprehensive reports that inform executive leadership and drive performance.
  • Coordinate the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial statements and budget estimates for the Minerals Canada Business Unit, ensuring accuracy and timeliness within established deadlines.
  • Interpret and communicate financial results to management, highlighting variances between actual and projected outcomes and providing clear, actionable explanations.
  • Conduct financial and economic analyses to support strategic initiatives, presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Respond to executive-level inquiries, providing timely, data-driven insights and supporting high-impact decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of long- and short-term capital and operating plans, aligning financial strategy with business objectives.

Job Knowledge, Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and a significant interest and ability to understand and question what is behind the numbers.
  • CPA, CMA, or CGA Certification is a Plus
  • 7+ years of experience in a related finance role
  • Prior experience in mid-to-large manufacturing environments with public accounting would be considered an asset.
  • SAP (or equivalent ERP) knowledge & Excel expertise
