Job summary

A local dining establishment in Ottawa is seeking an experienced chef to lead kitchen operations. You will be responsible for supervising staff, creating recipes, and managing food preparation for events. The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years of cooking experience and must work on-site. This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff
  • Supervise activities of specialized chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
  • Create new recipes
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Manage cooking for events and regular service meals
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Arrange equipment purchases and repairs
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities across multiple restaurants
  • Plan menus and ensure food quality standards are met
  • Recruit, hire and supervise staff including sous‑chefs, specialized chefs, chefs and cooks
