Our private client has a large personal estate just outside the Calgary city limits, which requires a motivated and eager team player to maintain and upkeep the groundsyear-round. This Groundskeeper/Landscaper willwork on this beautiful property with a small team of other groundskeepers.

The grounds crew who manage the property are a collaborative and hard working group. They are seeking a like-minded individual wanting stability and longevity in their landscaping/groundskeeping career.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The key job functions are:

  • Performing lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, sod laying, and fertilizing
  • Assisting with pest and weed management without using pesticides or herbicides
  • Operating various machinery including ride-on lawn mowers, push mowers, trimmers, blowers, trucks, and trailers
  • Servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment
  • Maintaining water features
  • Assisting with irrigation system maintenance
  • Assisting in planting annuals and perennials
  • Clearing snow and ice from walkways and driveways when necessary
  • Caring for ornamental and native trees
  • Planting trees and shrubs
  • Removing trees, hauling logs, and splitting wood
  • Weeding gardens and other areas as needed
  • Amending soil when necessary
  • Watering pots, urns, and gardens as directed
  • Detailing vehicles and equipment
  • Keeping the shop and kitchen area clean
  • Fostering positive relationships with coworkers
  • Performing other assigned duties

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable vehicle to get to and from the property
  • Clean criminal background
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds (pre-employment fitness test to be completed)
  • Willing and able to work overtime as needed
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, and function effectively in a team environment

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ working in landscaping/snow removal
  • Able to communicate, adapt to change, and provide effective solutions to practical issues, all while working closely with other team members and contractors
  • Horticulture and groundskeeping experience is an asset
  • Design experience is considered an asset
  • Able to operate a bobcat, tractor, truck trailer, mower, and other small equipment

Base Salary:$45,000 – 55,000+ per year

  • Salary based on experience
  • Pension plan

Work Hours:

  • 40+ hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime to be expected in peak seasons (1-5 hours of OT per week)
  • Occasional weekend and holiday shifts will be required

Remote Work:

  • This position is not remote. You are required to be on site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
