Job summary

A leading technology company in Newmarket, Canada is seeking an Export Compliance Specialist. This role will be the Designated Official responsible for managing the end-to-end security vetting process in accordance with Canadian regulations and administering compliance training programs. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, an export compliance background, and a commitment to regulatory adherence. This position requires a self-directed professional who is mature and possesses a strong sense of discretion. Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Preferably have an export compliance, customs, contracts or legal background.
  • Position of maturity and assertive presence.
  • Excellent sense of discretion and sensitivity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute security vetting processes per Canadian regulations.
  • Direct visitor compliance vetting against CGP and ITAR.
  • Serve as the primary site point-of-contact for compliance inquiries.
  • Administer and maintain the Site Security Plan under CGP.
  • Lead breach containment efforts and report unlawful disclosures.
  • Execute trade compliance documentation and apply for export permits.
  • Review GTS Blocks in SAP to prevent non-compliant shipments.
  • Collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance Team.
  • Ensure adherence to Business Firearms Licensing protocols.
  • Deliver training programs on Controlled Goods Program.
  • Maintain auditable record management system for compliance logs.
  • Participate in the quarterly CGP/ITAR Export Compliance Council.
