Job summary

Paladin Security Group is hiring a Full Time Security Guard for the SJHH Alternate Healthcare site in Hamilton, Ontario. The role requires a valid First Aid & CPR Level C, healthcare security or law enforcement experience, and English fluency.

You will perform patrols, engage with patients and staff, manage access, and prepare detailed reports. Eligible candidates must be legally permitted to work in Canada, be able to pass an N95 fit test, and may need MOAB/UOF certifications or complete

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Healthcare security experience or law enforcement experience.
• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Immunization records complete (MMR, Varicella, 2 doses COVID-19, 2-step TB).
• Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs for extended periods.
• Clean-shaven for N95 mask fit test.
• UOF and MOAB certifications or commitment to complete Paladin training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to calls for service.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff.
• Give escorts for staff and visitors as needed.
• Maintain notebooks, shift logs and investigation reports.
• Perform site duties such as key distribution, ID badging, lost-and-found, door unlocks and CCTV reviews.
• Explain facility rules and take action to resolve infractions including eviction or apprehension when required.
• Complete additional security tasks as assigned.

Position Overview

• Title: Full Time Security Guard - SJHH - Alternate Healthcare
• Employment Type: Full Time
• Pay Rate: $20.05/hr
• Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Site Overview

Located in downtown Hamilton at Effort Square, the Satellite Health Facility expands local healthcare capacity by supporting patients who are awaiting alternate care arrangements in the community. This environment allows healthcare teams to deliver dedicated transitional care while keeping hospital beds available for acute medical needs.

What You'll Be Doing

• Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols throughout the site and respond promptly to calls for service.
• Deliver exceptional customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining composure during stressful situations.
• Provide safe security escorts for staff and visitors as requested.
• Maintain detailed notebook entries, accurate shift logs, and comprehensive investigation reports in a timely manner.
• Perform administrative and site duties, including key distribution, ID badging, lost and found tracking, door unlocks, and CCTV reviews.
• Advise individuals on facility rules and regulations, taking action to resolve infractions, including eviction or apprehension using force when required.
• Complete additional security duties as assigned.

Must Haves

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider.
• At least one year of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Fluency in oral and written English.
• Complete immunization records, including Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, two COVID-19 vaccine doses, and a two-step TB skin test.
• Physical capacity to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
• Clean-shaven facial hair to pass an N95 mask fit test.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), or a commitment to complete Paladin's pre-employment training program prior to onboarding.

Nice-to-Haves

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services.
