Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Security Guard for University Health Network Westpark. You will perform proactive foot patrols, respond to incidents, and document activities using radios and computer systems while delivering courteous support to patients, visitors, and staff.

The role includes handling medical emergencies, respecting safety protocols, and maintaining a professional presence during high-stress situations.

Qualifications

• Must have First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Grade 12 diploma or GED.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Up-to-date immunization records (MMR, Varicella, 2 doses COVID-19, TB test).
• Ability to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit-testing.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• UOF and MOAB certifications, or willingness to complete Paladin training (6-month commitment).

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to secure facilities and safety.
• Respond to routine security incidents and emergencies.
• Write incident reports and document shift activities.
• Provide direction and customer service to patients, visitors, staff.
• De-escalate situations and assist during medical emergencies.
• Contact emergency services when required.

Position Overview

Pay Rate: $20.03/hr - $22.53/hr (based on leveling system)
Site: University Health Network Westpark
Schedule: Continental Rotation (0800-2000 / 2000-0800)
Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement

The facility helps patients overcome serious injury and illness so they can regain independence and return to their communities.

What You'll Be Doing

Conduct proactive foot patrols of assigned areas to secure facilities, equipment, and personal safety across the property.

Respond quickly and efficiently to routine security incidents, safety hazards, and coded hospital emergencies.

Write clear incident reports, investigate security breaches, and document shift activities using two-way radios and computer applications.

Provide clear direction and supportive customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, particularly during high-stress situations.

De-escalate situations involving upset or aggressive individuals and assist during medical emergencies as needed.

Contact emergency services, such as police, fire, or paramedic teams, when required.

Must Haves

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider
• Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Legal authorization to work in Canada
• Up-to-date immunization records (MMR, Varicella, 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a 2-step TB skin test)
• Ability to be clean-shaven to meet N95 mask fit-testing requirements
• Physical capability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certifications, or willingness to complete Paladin's free training program prior to onboarding (requires a 6-month commitment)

Nice-to-Haves

• One year of prior security or law enforcement experience
• Educational background in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services
