Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a dedicated Security Guard for St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay.

You will patrol facilities, monitor CCTV, manage access, and respond to medical emergencies and alarms, working Monday to Friday, 15:30–00:00. This role requires Ontario Security Guard licensing, First Aid/CPR Level C, vaccinations, immunization records, a valid G‑driver’s license, English fluency, and commitment to Paladin training (UOF/MOAB).

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• First Aid & CPR - Level C certification from WSIB-approved vendor.
• Proof of two COVID-19 vaccine doses.
• Immunization records: MMR, Varicella, and two-step TB test.
• Valid G class Driver's License with clean 3-year driving abstract.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• UOF and MOAB certifications, or commitment to Paladin training before onboarding.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Write detailed daily activity and incident reports.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for security responses.
• Enforce hospital safety protocols and policies.

Site Overview

St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay is a specialized rehabilitative care hospital within St. Joseph's Care Group. The facility provides rehabilitation, mental health, addictions, and complex continuing-care services, supporting patients across Northwestern Ontario in a safe and people-centred healthcare environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Conducting regular patrols of hospital grounds, parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, and entry points.

• Managing access control at hospital entrances and restricted zones.
• Responding quickly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, security threats, and evacuations.

• Writing detailed daily activity and incident reports.
• Working alongside hospital staff and local law enforcement to ensure coordinated security response.
• Enforcing hospital safety protocols and policies.

Must Haves

• Valid Security Guard License for Ontario.
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C certification from a WSIB-approved vendor.
• Proof of two COVID-19 vaccine doses.
• Completed immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and a completed two-step TB skin test.
• Valid G class Driver's License with a clean 3-year driving abstract.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), or a commitment to complete Paladin's training prior to onboarding.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
