Food Safety and Compliance Specialist — Kitchener, ON

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments that measure conformity to established regulatory, industry, and proprietary brand standards for clients.
  • Observe food preparation and cooking practices to ensure food safety, health, and sanitation standards.
  • Partner with clients to address root causes of assessment discrepancies and develop corrective action plans.
  • Teach and coach clients on how to create a safer and healthier workplace for their staff and customers.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time by car and/or plane, equivalent to about 10 overnight stays per month.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • 1 to 5 years of food service, restaurant, or grocery operations and customer service experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of food safety preferred.
  • ServSafe and/or CP-FS certification(s) a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Hospitality Management, or Science preferred; high school diploma or equivalent acceptable.
  • Desire to travel up to 50% of the time by car and/or plane.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background screen.
  • Flexible Sunday to Saturday work schedule to accommodate personal commitments.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs chest high; capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills; bilingual in French and English a plus.
  • Strong organization and time management; ability to influence others with tact; provide constructive feedback; thrive in an autonomous environment; keen attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Salary Range: $44,000.00 to $46,000.00/year with the following perks:
