Engineering Technician

Summary:

Working closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams, you will support and improve manufacturing operations by becoming a technical expert on critical production equipment across all plants. You will troubleshoot and repair equipment and participate in Preventative Maintenance in a fast-paced, high-impact manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in planning and executing capital projects, including equipment upgrades and layout changes.
  • Ensure safe practices during lifting, installation, or movement of machinery and components.
  • Maintain workspace organization and ensure compliance with GMP standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other trades to complete projects on time and meet specifications.
  • Assist in overhauls and rebuild equipment components such as gearboxes, pumps, valves, motors, and conveyors.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food quality regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians or Co-op students.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workstations, spare parts, and tools.
  • Travel to other FGF sites as required to support multi-site engineering activities.

Required Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial Maintenance, or related Engineering Technology field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and code compliance.
  • Experience with safe lifting techniques and operating lifting/rigging equipment (forklift certification preferred).
  • Willingness to provide after-hours and weekend on-call support in a rotating schedule or emergency response protocol.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A vehicle is required for travel between company sites.
  • Flexibility to work rotational shifts and weekends based on business needs.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret schematics for troubleshooting and maintenance.
