Job summary

A local government authority in Ontario is seeking an Energy and Facilities Student. This position involves providing technical support for facility management and assisting with HVAC maintenance and installation among other tasks. Job description
Position Description

The incumbent will perform technical support duties relating to facility management activities for Norfolk County facilities. Related tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Gas Technicians in various HVAC maintenance and installation duties.
  • Assist Technicians with on-going building maintenance.
  • Assist in the collection and organization of facility data and facility drawings.
  • Assist with HVAC and building engineering tasks.
  • Assist with the management of facilities capital construction projects.
  • Assist with the collection, analysis and monitoring of energy data.
  • Assist with the analysis of energy and sustainability projects.
  • Assist with the corporate energy conservation awareness program.
  • Assist with facility component inventory and data organization.
  • Assist with annual energy reporting.
Qualifications
  • University or College student enrolled in mechanical/electrical engineering, architecture, or gas technician or facilities management course (or related field).
  • Valid province of Ontario Class “G” license and access to a reliable vehicle including the ability to provide a drivers abstract when requested during the recruitment process.
  • Computer expertise to apply Corporate software.
  • Must be able to operate a pickup truck, small equipment, and power and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Good time management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in general operation of office equipment, i.e. computer, photocopier, etc.
Note

Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.

At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.

Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
