Job description

The Employment Counsellormanages a caseload and ensures clients obtain and maintain integrated work experiences and/or employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage client caseloads and maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, including assessments, progress notes, service plans, and communications.
  • Deliver pre-employment services and employment workshops, including resume writing, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, communication skills, and time management.
  • Match clients to appropriate job opportunities that align with their abilities, interests, and goals.
  • Arrange job interviews, accompany clients when necessary, and assist with interview preparation and follow-up.
  • Support clients in developing the soft skills necessary for workplace success, including confidence, teamwork, and responsibility.
  • Develop individualized supports to promote job success.
  • Break down job functions so individuals understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Stay informed about current best practices in supported employment and disability inclusion.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for program development and service improvement.
  • Advocate for systemic change that promotes full community inclusion and equal employment opportunities for people living with disabilities.
