Job description

DKI Miller Restoration is the Niagara Peninsula’s recognized leader in Property Restoration to Canadian Insurance Companies.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Response Technician to join our team. The Emergency Response Technician plays a critical role in responding to and mitigating property damage following emergencies such as fire, water, storm, or mold incidents.

These technicians are on the front lines of disaster recovery, working closely with property owners, project managers, insurance adjusters, and restoration teams to ensure swift, effective, and safe restoration of affected properties.

The role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent customer service to help clients recover from the devastating effects of property damage.

Duties:

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess the situation take immediate action to prevent further property damage and stabilize the environment.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company protocols to protect both the technician and the property owner.
  • Ensure that all jobs are completed in a timely, accurate, detailed and cost effective way.
  • Operate and maintain equipment. Adhere to all internal procedures and policies as per the Employee Manual.
  • Ensure that all job related paperwork is completed.
  • Be responsible for keeping the job site organized and clean at all times.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge
  • Have the ability to lead, delegate and supervise others on job sites.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for after hours emergency services.

  • Must lift heavy items of at least 50 lbs on a routine basis.
  • Hold a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Able to operate company owned vehicles
  • Willing to submit personal information for a criminal background check
  • Ability to follow technical directions.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.

  • Experience/Education:

    • Prior experience in emergency response, restoration, or related fields is considered an asset.
    • Prior industry training or IICRC certificates would be an asset.
    • Emergency or Standard First Aid would be an asset.
    • Working knowledge of tools and equipment.

    This role is essential in the fast-paced, high-stakes environment of insurance restoration, offering a mix of technical expertise, client service, and hands-on problem-solving to ensure properties are returned to pre-loss conditions as quickly and efficiently as possible. This role may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays in response to urgent calls. The position may also require travel to multiple job sites and handling varying levels of damage, from minor leaks to severe structural issues.
