Job summary

A local educational organization in West Nipissing is inviting applications for the role of Educational Assistant: Classroom Assistant/Physical Care. The successful candidate will help students with diverse physical and developmental needs, working closely as part of a team. Responsibilities include implementing behaviour modification strategies and utilizing technology for remote education. Applicants should possess a two-year post-secondary diploma and have experience working with children in a supportive educational setting. This is a temporary, full-time position effective immediately until June 26, 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience with students with physical needs, Autism, and developmental delays is required.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Regular access to a vehicle and valid driver's license is mandatory.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Classroom Assistant/Physical Care at Our Lady of Sorrows School.

1.0 FTE
Temporary
Effective Immediately, until approximately January 5, 2026, but not to extend beyond June 26, 2026.

Mandatory Requirements

• Two‑year post‑secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behaviour, and anger management needs.
• Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavioural exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behaviour modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Regular access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.

Preferred Requirements

• Non‑violent crisis intervention training would be an asset.
• French language skills would be considered an asset.
• First aid training.
