Business Line: Corporate Benefits

Hours Per Week: 35 (Full-Time)

Location: Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta – Hybrid Setting (https://www.nfp.ca/about-nfp/find-an-office)

Job Duration: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

The successful candidate will be an essential member of the Group Benefits team, contributing to the development and growth of the benefits department and the organization. As a consultant, you will provide your expertise and in-depth knowledge to mid-large group customers. You will have a proven track record for building excellent relationships and delivering innovative advice and solutions regarding marketplace trends, including Drug Management strategies, Organizational health, and absence management. Responsibilities will include overseeing key customers, networking, developing, and maintaining relationships to strengthen existing ones and developing new business opportunities.

What You’ll Do
  1. Promote strong client and prospect relations through both social and business interactions.
  2. Work with small and mid-size client accounts.
  3. Provide client-specific strategies and concepts to support a competitive plan design to meet the client's requirements.
  4. Meet with clients to present quarterly experience, financial updates, marketing, and renewal reports.
  5. Educate clients on group benefits and provide options for consideration.
  6. Provide advice and interpret reports to support clients in making informed decisions regarding the benefit plan, including plan design and funding aspects.
  7. Generate new business sales through prospecting and cross-selling initiatives.
  8. Prepare and deliver benefit plan updates (financial, plan design, legislative) that clearly convey relevant issues.
  9. Participate in renewal negotiations focusing on the client’s needs.
  10. Participate in the RFP process, analyze carrier submissions, coordinate presentations, and transition to new carriers as required.
  11. Collaborate with other business teams at NFP to coordinate relationship management efforts.
  12. Engage in other projects and tasks as they arise.
  13. Pursue career development through seminars or educational programs relevant to responsibilities at NFP.
  14. Participate in client education seminars and social events.
What You Bring
  • Life Licensed (LLQP) or must obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum 5 years of group benefits insurance experience
  • Experience in relationship/business development roles
  • Extensive knowledge of group benefits policy contracts and language
  • Strong analytical, relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including business writing
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to connect with audiences
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
