Qualifications
- Master's degree in Applied Behavioural Analysis, or equivalent required.
- Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Professional Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts (CPBAO) required.
- Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) in good standing is an asset.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in behavioural programming for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs.
- Ability to work within a clinical interdisciplinary team that follows a bio-psycho-social model of treatment and intervention utilizing principles of behaviour analysis.
- Knowledge of autism, mental health and developmental disability diagnosis; ability to manage challenging behaviours and summarize, analyze and graph data results.
- Working knowledge of related legislation and regulations: Employment Standards Act, OHSA, Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Act, QAM, MCCSS, CYFSA, Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act (2021), etc.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications.
Job Summary
- The Registered Behaviour Analyst is responsible for providing autonomous behaviour services to a caseload of individuals with an intellectual/developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, challenging behaviours, mental health concerns, and the complex needs of the aging population.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including QAM, MCYS, MCCSS and the CYFSA and Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act (2021).
Responsibilities
- Program Development and Administration:
- Ensure procedures, practices, and interventions are evidence based and implemented using a bio-psychosocial approach.
- Autonomously conduct functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) and interpret and summarize data.
- Develop behaviour support plans and skill acquisition programs in collaboration with the individual, staff, family, and other professionals.
- Maintain monthly behavioural data, incident report data, and PRN usage; present analyses to a Third-Party Review Committee.
- Prepare discharge reports when an individual’s service concludes.
- Training, Supervision, Monitoring:
- Monitor Behaviour Support Plans and protocols; provide on-site observation, feedback, data input and program review.
- Train staff and families; utilize evidence-based behavioural skills training (BST).
- Provide strategies to support quality of life and assist with additional staff training as required.
- Review incident reports and document serious occurrences as needed.
- Consult with internal and external specialists as required (nursing, psychiatry, speech language, OT, etc.).
- Staff/Parent/Student Support:
- Respond to crises and support staff and families in implementing treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate with staff, families and individuals to ensure success of behaviour strategies.
- Advocate and liaise with professionals and supervise student placements.
- Meetings:
- Attend staff, leadership and behaviour services team meetings; participate in case conferences and committees.
- Attend Plan of Cares and Person Directed Plans as necessary to discuss programs and progress.
- Present data to support decisions with interdisciplinary teams and during medical appointments.
- Engage in external research collaborations as applicable.
