Director of Production

Compensation & Benefits: $150,000 – $170,000 + RRSP matching + group insurance + summer hours + on-site parking
About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Production to oversee the full product lifecycle post-sale. This role is responsible for driving execution across Fit, Sourcing, Production, Costing, and Compliance to ensure that products are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
As a key leader, the Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and lead high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Product Fit & Specifications
- Partner with the Fit & Tech team to develop and approve tech packs, fit standards, grading, and material specifications
- Ensure product consistency, quality, and fit across all styles and collections
- Collaborate with Design, Product Development, and Sales to bring creative concepts into production
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Support the global sourcing strategy to balance cost, quality, and lead times
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships, monitoring performance regularly
- Ensure vendors comply with labor, safety, environmental, and corporate social responsibility standards
Production Oversight
- Oversee the full production process and ensure adherence to timelines
- Collaborate with factories to resolve challenges and meet delivery commitments
- Guarantee that both aesthetic and technical quality standards are achieved
Costing Management
- Manage product costing, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising fit or quality
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all production activities meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor teams across sourcing, costing, production, fit, and compliance
- Promote innovation, accountability, and operational excellence
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure production aligns with business goals
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
- Provide strategic insights to leadership and recommend process improvements
- Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to maintain competitive advantage
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in production, sourcing, or manufacturing within the apparel/fashion industry
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and vendors
- Deep knowledge of product lifecycle management, costing, and compliance
- Proven ability to balance creativity, quality, timelines, and cost
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
