Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the annual Spares Warehouse budget and monitor performance against approved targets.
- Collaborate with management to develop, streamline, and implement materials management Standard Operating Procedures across all Canadian divisions.
- Responsible for the physical inventory across Canadian facilities, including warehousing, distribution, and logistics operations at the Spares Warehouse and YYC MRO Store department.
- Responsible for inventory accuracy, availability, carrying costs optimization, and appropriate management of depreciation and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize material recertification process, including UDP program.
- Responsible for overseeing ERP-related material tracking practices, including SOPs, data accuracy, and data integrity.
- Develop, oversee, and communicate objectives and initiatives pertaining to materials departments.
- Oversee logistics planning, cost estimates, and execution for capital projects and remote inventory locations, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Participate in the development and implementation of short- and long-term goals, policies, and procedures with internal stakeholders that interface with the materials departments.
- Provide leadership oversight for receiving, handling storage, and distribution of materials at the Spares Warehouse.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize short- and long-term storage across company divisions, minimizing loss, damage, and inefficiencies.
- Lead and develop direct reports through effective delegation, coaching, performance management, and progressive discipline.
- Identify risks related to Avmax's supply chain, internal auditing, customer needs, and external environment, developing and implementing risk-treating policies and procedures.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with current and new freight forward vendors i.e., FEDEX.
- Serve as operational and technical resource to materials management in the communication and resolution of related issues.
- Ensure compliance with related internal policies and general procedures, including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and Health and Safety.
- Ensure all materials within Avmax Canadian locations are optimized for sale, maintenance, repairs, or other needs as required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in materials management, warehousing, logistics, purchasing/sales or a combination of related experience and a degree or diploma in a related program(s).
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to guide, develop, and manage teams effectively.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Sound team leader skills with the ability to guide and lead employees through daily tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management tools.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a material management or logistics leadership role.
- Aviation experience is considered an asset.
