Overview
Director, Clinical Services & Resident Care - Mount Hope, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care - London, ON. Full Time. Salary Range: $69.46 - $81.71 /hour. Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care provides care for 375 residents and emphasizes needs of the individual, independence, choice and personal wellness. As one of the nursing leaders responsible for resident care, you will provide leadership for the nursing team and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to provide high quality, resident care.
An established nursing professional, you have experience with the complex issues faced by the elderly and younger long term care residents in a 24-hour care setting. You will apply change management, consensus building and conflict resolution skills to ensure quality care for residents and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the nursing team and work with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver high quality resident care.
- Ensure quality care through development and maintenance of appropriate care plans, supervision of nursing staff, provision of equipment and supplies, and appropriate staffing patterns, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate hiring, orientation, continuing education, supervision, promotion, transfers, performance evaluation and, if necessary, termination of nursing staff.
- Direct the implementation and review of policies, procedures and processes to meet government legislation and industry standards; interpret policies to nursing staff, residents, families, medical staff, and other departments or service providers.
- Participate in the quality management process and monitor the quality of nursing services.
- Manage employee relations within the collective agreement and organization policies and procedures.
- Maintain a police record check within the last six months from CPIC, inclusive of vulnerable sector screening.

Essential Qualifications
- Current RN certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario with at least one year of experience as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector and at least three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting; demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021.
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with OHSA; ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA.
- Accountable for the highest standard of resident care and quality of life through development and maintenance of care plans, supervision of nursing staff, provision of equipment and supplies, appropriate staffing patterns, nursing services, policies and procedures.
- Experience coordinating the hiring, orientation, ongoing education, supervision, promotion, transfers, performance evaluation and, if necessary, termination of nursing staff.
- Experience implementing and reviewing policies and procedures to meet government legislation and industry standards and communicating them to staff, residents and families.
- Participation in quality management processes and monitoring the quality of nursing services.
- Knowledge of employee relations within the framework of the organization’s policies and the collective agreement.
- CPIC clearance within six months including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities: Lead Self; Engage Others; Achieve Results; Develop Coalition; System Transformation.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a leadership capacity in a long-term care setting.
- Proficiency in French would be an asset.
Teaching and Research
- St. Joseph's Health Care London, through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College, engages in teaching and research activities. Employees may be expected to participate in role-related teaching and research in addition to clinical duties.
Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing.
