Job Description

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, providing catering services, and ensuring work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. They also assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Preparing food for residents;
2. Ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service;
3. Responding to resident or family concerns and taking appropriate action or escalating to the Food Services Manager;
4. Setting up, serving, and cleaning up at catering events;
5. Communicating effectively with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner, focusing on customer service excellence.

Candidate Requirements:

1. Previous experience in food services within retirement, long-term care, or hospitality environments;
2. Secondary school diploma or equivalent;
3. Food Safe Level 1 Certificate (preferred);
4. Smart Serve Certificate (preferred);
5. First Aid Certificate (preferred);
6. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English;
7. Empathy and understanding of seniors' needs;
8. Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
9. Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
