Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Design Specialist II for a leading Telecom company in Canada. This role will work closely with the Technology, Migration, and Reclamation teams to develop and design solutions for remaining copper circuits and devices to enable copper reclamation and CO redevelopment across BC, AB and QC as the company restructures from Copper to a pure Fibre network.

Responsibilities
  • You’ll review existing copper circuits and help the organization define the migration path and strategy, primarily on PureFibre but possibly on wireless.
  • You will support circuit analysis and data alignment across our various platforms, ensuring the scope has been properly identified for the build teams to execute upon.
  • You will assist with strategy, and possibly support design creation based on sound engineering economic analysis, following guidelines established by network standards, to reduce capacity on working terminals, rehome active circuits, copper to copper build solutions and grooming circuits to adjacent cables of lesser value.
  • Meet with key‑stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure successful outcomes on a project.
  • Write technical reports as required.
  • Provide accurate and timely target/objective updates tracking progress towards copper retirement design.

Skills and Requirements
  • 5 years of experience as a Design Specialist on the data side (not customer facing)
  • Working experience with designing TELUS/telecom outside plant, sizing cables, and reducing working terminal capacity
  • Experience working in FMS (Facility Management System) and Spatial Network records or similar systems (Fibre inventory systems)
  • Post‑secondary diploma or certification in computer science or engineering or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Experience with Google Workspace, Domo, Tableau, JIRA, and Appian is an asset.
  • In‑depth understanding of the TELUS business, particularly wireline and/or products and services
